I think about many different things but one thing I ponder on is why all kids don’t play sports. I think all kids should play sports. It will help keep kids out of trouble, get good grades and hang out with the right people. This will stop many problems in the near future. I have a few reasons why all kids should be in sports.
A huge reason why all kids should play sports is because it keeps them out of trouble. When kids get into sports and start to enjoy it, they don’t have time for trouble. Sports will show kids great honesty and incredible integrity. I know when I find something I enjoy; I want to try my hardest at it. In sports, kids push themselves to be the best they can be. Sports teach kids inestimable life lessons that are more valuable than a rare baseball card signed by Babe Ruth.
In addition to that, kids that play sports most likely have better grades. Sports push kids to try harder in school because of a newly formed competitive spirit. With a competitive spirit, kids want to be the best and smartest, which pushes their classmates to try harder too. In school, fitter kids who usually play sports are smarter. Scientists chose 9 and 10 year olds in Illinois to run on a tread mill, watch arrow directions on computers and then they scanned their brains. They could clearly see that fit kids had bigger Basal Ganglia, a vital part of the brain. If all kids played sports and were fit, more kids would likely get better grades. The last reason why playing sports would help kids succeed in school is because there would be no gloating or bragging about good grades. Even though sports players want to be the best, they know how it feels to fail. Instead of teasing or bragging like bullies to kids who didn’t get excellent grades, they would show them sympathy and compassion by boosting their spirit up again. This builds gratifying character that will stay with sports players forever.
Lastly, kids that play sports have their teammates as supportive friends. When kids are around other kids that try hard and succeed, they want to do it too. Supportive kids in sports push each other to be their best. Sports players have lots of supportive friends because they have friends from sports and school. It is harder to get bullied when you have a group of friends around you at all times. Sports friends are life long friends that will always show up in your life.
There are so many reasons why all kids should play sports. It helps them stay out of trouble, get better grades, and hang out with the right kind of people. There is so much sports have to offer that I think will help many kids later on in life if they all played at least one sport.
